The test is of objective type in two parts viz: Part-I and Part II consisting of 170 questions to be answered in 120 minutes.
1. Part-I consists of Technical Knowledge Test (TKT) with 120 questions having specific questions in your discipline. e.g – If you have applied for ET – Electrical then question shall be in electrical discipline.
2. Part-II consists of Executive Aptitude Test (EAT) with 50 questions on vocabulary, verbal comprehension, quantitative aptitude, reasoning ability, ability to determine data sufficiency interpretation of graphs/charts/tables, numerical ability etc.
3. Both Parts I and II are compulsory and short listing for Interview is based on performance in both the parts. All questions are compulsory and carry equal marks. Wrong and multiple answers would result in negative marks of 1/4.

The Competent Authority for the ‘MHT-CET-2009 Examination’ is Director of medical education and Research, Mumbai. However for the selection process there will be two separate Competent Authorities. For selection to Health Science courses, Director of Medical Education and Research, Mumbai will be the Competent Authority. For selection to Engineering and Pharmacy courses Director, Technical Education, Mumbai will be the Competent Authority.
The application form for MHT-CET-2009 is common for all the above said courses.However, the information brochures for Health Science Courses, Engineering courses and Pharmacy course are separate. The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an All-India Examination conducted by the Seven IITs and IISC, Bangalore, on behalf of the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India. The objectives of GATE is to identify meritorious and motivated candidates for admission to Postgraduate Programs Engineering at the National level. Every year one IIT or IISc is selected as the Organizing Institute.
