Fellowships

Eligibility Criteria
Full-time Programmes

(A) (i) A candidate seeking admission to the Full-time Integrated M. Phil. - Ph. D. programme shall have a minimum of 55% marks (50% marks for SC/ST candidates ) or its equivalent grade in Master's Degree in education, social sciences and allied disciplines from a recognized university.

(ii) Candidates who are yet to clear their final examination at the Master’s level are also eligible to apply provided they pass the examination as per eligibility conditions already laid down at (i) above and submit its proof at the time of interview.

(B) A candidate seeking admission to Full-time Direct Ph. D. Programme shall have an M. Phil. degree in an area closely related to educational and administration and/or exceptionally brilliant academic record coupled with
publications of high quality.

Part-time Programme
A candidate seeking admission to Part-time Ph. D. programme is required to meet the following criteria:

(i) Should possess the educational qualifications as mentioned in Para (A) (i) above;
(ii) Currently, should be in full-time employment;

(iii) Should be a senior level educational functionary/administrator with a minimum of five years work experience in teaching, educational planning and administration.

Mode of Selection
The University reserves the right to decide the number of seats to be filled in the year 2009-10; the criteria for screening of applications; and the selection procedure of candidates for admission to its Full-time Integrated M. Phil. - Ph. D. and Ph. D. programmes. The mode of selection of candidates will be as under:

(i) Initial short-listing of applications will be carried out on the basis of relevance and quality of the brief write-up (in the prescribed format) in the proposed area of research to be submitted along with the application form;

(ii) Short-listed candidates will be invited for second level screening through which the University will assess the general awareness of the candidates about the educational issues and their motivation to pursue research.

(iii) Written test for the short-listed candidate will be scheduled on 30 May, 2009 at NUEPA at 9.00 a.m.

(iv) Face-to-face interview for the qualified candidates will be from June 1-3, 2009.

Stocks to watch: BHEL, PNB, Kingfisher Airlines... here

Following stocks are likely to be in the limelight today, December 29.

Bharat Heavy Electricals (BHEL) has secured a Rs 50.40 billion contract from Jindal Power for setting up 2,400 mw power plant in Chhattisgarh. Shares of BHEL closed down Rs 52.2, or 3.86%, at Rs 1,300.15**.

Kingfisher Airlines said that it would adopt fare reduction across its network from Jan. 1, 2008. Shares of the company closed up Rs 0.3, or 0.87%, at Rs 34.80**.

Punjab National Bank (PNB) announced that Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan has accorded in-principle approval for setting up Druk PNB Bank, a joint venture bank between PNB and Bhutanese Promoters. Shares of the company closed down Rs 8.55, or 1.69%, at Rs 498.65**.

Jet Airways has brought up Rs 10 billion from a South-Indian Bank and a nationalized bank to meet its working capital requirements. Shares of the company closed up Rs 6.8, or 3.8%, at Rs 185.65**.

Reliance Retail, the retail arm of Reliance Industries, as part of its strategy to beat the current economic slowdown is positioning themselves as value retailer. The retailer is focusing on product pricing even as it consolidates the back-end of all its hyper, super and convenience stores referred to in the company as value formats. Shares of the company declined Rs 29.2, or 2.35%, to end at Rs 1,212**.

Eligibility: 1. Eligibility for Bachelor Programmes - Design
B.Des. (Fashion Design / Leather Design / Accessory Design / Textile Design / Knitwear Design / Fashion Communication)

The +2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi. OR

General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level. OR

Any Public School/Board/University Examination in India or in Foreign countries recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system. OR

A pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of five subjects.OR

3 or 4-years diploma recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education.

2. B.FTech. (Apparel Production)

The +2 level examination in the 10+2 pattern of examination of any recognized Central/State Board of Secondary Examination, such as Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi, and Council for Indian School of Certificate Examination, New Delhi with Physics, Chemistry and Maths. OR

General Certificate Education (GCE) Examination (London/ Cambridge/ Sri Lanka) at the advanced (A) level with Physics, Chemistry and Maths. OR

3. Eligibility for Master Programme – Design

i) M.Des. (Master of Design)

Graduation degree from a recognised University in any discipline OR

Bachelor in Applied Arts (Fashion Design / Visual Communication / Graphic Design / Industrial Design / Interior Design / Multimedia Design / Product Design / Textiles & Accessories. OR

B.A. (Fine Arts) or B.Sc. (Textiles & Clothing) OR

B.Arch. OR

Design Diploma / Degree from NIFT / NID only

Candidates having relevant industry experience in areas of Fashion / Textile / Communication Design would be preferred.

ii) M.F.M. (Master of Fashion Management)

A three years Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities or Diploma in Accessory / Fashion Design / FIT from NIFT only.

For foreign Bachelor’s Degree, not recognized by the Association of Indian Universities, proper certification by a National Body constituted in the country concerned for granting equivalence will have to be produced.

iii) M.FTech. (Master of Fashion Technology)

B.E. / B.Tech. (Textiles / Apparel / Mechanical / Industrial/Production /Electronics /Computer / Information Technology)

IMPORTANT NOTE
Candidates appearing for their qualifying examinations can also apply. Their admission, however, will be provisional and subject to obtaining the defined eligibility. Proof of the candidates having successfully passed the qualifying examination will have to be produced at the time of joining the programme. In case, candidates do not produce the required documents by 30th June, 2009, their admission will be cancelled and 50% of the tuition fee will be refunded.

Non fulfillment of the above conditions will automatically result in the cancellation of the provisional admission.
Application procedure: Candidates belonging to General/OBC Category are required to submit a Demand Draft for Rs.1000/- drawn in favour of ‘National Institute of Fashion Technology’ payable at New Delhi, along with the NIFT Application Form filled-in manually. Candidates (General/OBC Category) applying online are required to submit a Demand Draft for Rs.1,250/- alongwith the print-out of the filled-in online NIFT Application Form.

Candidates belonging to SC/ST or Person with Disabilities Category are required to submit a Demand Draft for Rs.500/- drawn in favour of ‘National Institute of Fashion Technology’ payable at New Delhi, along with the NIFT Application Form filled-in manually. Candidates (SC/ST Category) applying online are required to submit a Demand Draft for Rs.750/- alongwith the print-out of the filled-in online NIFT Application Form.

Application submitted without the details of the Demand Draft will not be accepted.

Candidates have to provide the following details in the OMR application form:

1. DD Number at item no 5 of NIFT Application Form
2. Date of Demand Draft at item no 6 of NIFT Application Form 3. Bank Code at item no 7 of NIFT Application Form

Candidate has to make demand draft preferably from any one of the banks listed overleaf. In the list given below a three digit code is given against each bank. You have to write the three-digit Bank Code on the OMR Application Form at item no 7. Shade the corresponding oval below each digit.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Friday announced the examination schedule for the Classes X and XII board exams that will begin 2 March 2009.
For Class 10, the examinations will start with elementary business among four other optional subjects. The exams for Class 12 will begin with chemistry.
While the Class 10 date-sheet looks well spaced out, Class 12 students have a paper almost every day.
The examination for Class 10 will conclude March 30, while Class 12's will end April 2.
Last year, nearly 1.1 million students appeared for the CBSE Classes 10 and 12 examinations.
